A quick and brief race report: I had known about this race for about a week, but wasn’t sure I was going to do it until I mentioned it to my co-workers after a large steak dinner and a few beers the night before. Needless to say, with my lack of training, I wasn’t expecting a win, and went out conservatively. About a mile into the race, I was in fourth place and my shoe lace came undone. I considered stoping and tying it, but decided against it. With about a mile to go, I moved into the lead and only one guy stayed close. The finish was in a stadium, since I hadn’t put much distance on the guy in second, I slowed up slightly and entered the stadium in second place. With about 200 yards to go I kicked for the finish and was suprised when I found myself alone. It’s been awhile since I’ve had that feeling of a win, it felt great!
